Ephesians 1:18
Soulwithaview was created during a season of hopelessness. When Darren Shaw initially set up the company, he was in the midst of a debilitating illness. Despite this, he continued to search for a way to carry on encouraging and supporting people on their faith journey. Against all the odds, Darren trusted God and moved forward with the company.
Our verse of hope for this month formed the basis of the original mission of soulwithaview.
18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
Ephesians 1:18
Soulwithaview relaunched in November 2020 during a season of hopelessness. The Covid pandemic had decimated my family's finances, and the way forward seemed uncertain. At that moment, I honestly thought soulwithaview would come to an end. Over the past six months, I've spent many moments scanning for jobs in the local area, testing out whether God wanted me to take a different path. Six months later, here I am, carrying on what Darren started all those years ago.
Soulwithaview exists to bring hope and encouragement to anyone who occasionally spots a post on Facebook or for those of you who spend time each week reading the blogs. I look at the journey Darren commenced, and I believe God wants it to continue. We all like to know if what we are doing for God is making a difference. I sometimes hope He’ll provide me with a spiritual analytics report outlining what’s working and what isn’t, but living out our calling isn’t like that.
What hope is God is calling you to?
It may be a calling you have had for many years that needs flooding with light again to give you new hope for the journey.
It may be a calling that takes you in a new and exciting direction.
It may be a confirmation of a calling you've lived out for years.
Many of have faced challenges over the past year that may have dimmed your confidence in the hope of God’s calling for your life.
I understand that as it's been such a difficult year.
I also understand how tempting it is to manufacture your own hope when it feels like you can't see the way forward.
We create our own path to take back control, to make it easier in the short term.
Please don't give in to that temptation (I give that advice to myself as well).
Instead, just like in this month’s picture, let's see God's light of hope showing us the path forward. More importantly, let's take the hope of God's light deep into our hearts so that those around us ask about its source.
And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very centre and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God's people).
