Have you ever been out of your depth in water?
It must be terrifying; water rising around you whilst you feel increasingly exhausted from trying your best to stay afloat. Panic and fear may take hold as you ask yourself ‘What should I do?’, ‘What can I do?’
I’ve never experienced this in water but oh the times that life has come up around my neck and I have felt completely out of my depth.
Panic and fear have risen within as my control floats off into the distance and I begin to choke on my circumstances. Within the ‘water’ my swamped soul pleads ‘What should I do?’, ‘What can I do?’
In moments like these, we seek survival – we need salvation, and oh the utter joy and relief when there it is - help! Hope!
‘God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.’
Psalm 46:1 (NIV)
‘The extraordinary thing that is about to happen is matched only by the extraordinary moment just before it happens. Advent is the name of that moment’
Frederick Buechner
The Christmas story is the good news that we all need to hear: in our circumstances, in our situations: God is with us,
‘This is Jesus, Emmanuel here with us, tell all the world, we have a Saviour’
Hillsong Worship
This Advent, breathe a sigh of relief and see your hope on the horizon - we have a Saviour!
