What does your picture-perfect Christmas look like?
Perfect - having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.
As the 25th of December approaches, it’s easy to get pulled into creating the perfect Christmas with all the “desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics” to make it "as good as it is possible to be." As we wake on Christmas morning, there is so much expectation, and then before we know it, the day has passed, and the gloom of January sets in.
There are many versions of a “perfect” Christmas. In our society, they usually involve online shopping and late-night wrapping and turkey and crackers and over-excited children and carol singing and Christmas pudding and sprouts…okay, maybe not sprouts!
And yet the most “desirable element” of Christmas, the person with the most qualities and worthy characteristics is Jesus. Surely a perfect Christmas needs to centre around Him, who He is, and the reason He came?
On the first day of Advent, set your mind to take time each day to adore the one who truly makes Christmas perfect.
Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning
Jesus, to Thee be glory given
Word of the Father
Now in flesh appearing
O come, let us adore Him
Christ the Lord!
